Rusted Maritime Structure on the Vilanculos Coast, Mozambique

This photograph captures the Vilanculos coastline in Mozambique, looking across the calm, shallow waters of the Indian Ocean towards a tropical shoreline and a collection of traditional fishing boats. The corroded steel remains provide an unusual glimpse into the maritime history of Vilanculos. The distant shoreline is characterised by lush vegetation, coconut palms and low-rise coastal development. This relatively undeveloped setting reinforces the contrast between the natural environment and the industrial-looking remains in the foreground.
