Port of Cape Town, V&A Waterfront and Signal Hill

R1800,00

This expansive aerial photograph captures the western side of the Port of Cape Town, looking across the harbour towards the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean. The image provides a detailed view of the transition between Cape Town’s working harbour and the redeveloped waterfront precinct, with commercial, residential, hospitality and maritime facilities extending around the historic Alfred and Victoria Basins.

Prominent in the foreground is the Port Control Building, a distinctive modernist tower situated at the entrance to the Port of Cape Town. The 55-metre-high structure houses the Cape Town Port Control Centre and provides extensive views over the harbour, enabling the safe management and movement of vessels within the port.

Behind the Port Control Building, the photograph shows the working harbour’s extensive quay infrastructure, ship-repair and marine facilities, while the historic V&A Waterfront occupies the basins further north-west. The Victoria Basin forms part of the original harbour and today accommodates the mixed-use Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, where historic harbour infrastructure has been integrated with retail, commercial, residential and tourism development.

Signal Hill dominates the background, with the densely developed neighbourhoods of Green Point and Sea Point extending towards the Atlantic coastline. Together, the working port, historic waterfront, modern city and mountainous landscape demonstrate the extraordinary relationship between Cape Town’s maritime infrastructure and its urban environment.
