The Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane is a distinctive eight-storey, 124-room hotel in the heart of Mbabane, Eswatini. Completed in 2019, the development marked Hilton Garden Inn’s entry into the Eswatini market and was conceived as an architectural landmark for the capital. Located against a hillside south of the city centre, the building and its landscaped terraces provide expansive views across Mbabane and the surrounding Ezulwini Valley.
Designed by Paragon Group, in collaboration with local partner architects Steve Hall Development Consultants, the building is distinguished by its dramatic undulating aluminium-and-glass façade. The sweeping horizontal bands echo the surrounding mountainous landscape while creating varying degrees of solar protection across the elevations. The upper tower accommodates the hotel’s guestrooms, while the lower levels contain the reception, restaurant, bar, lounge and conference facilities.
The development incorporates a full-height internal atrium, scenic glass lifts, conference facilities, fitness centre and landscaped pool deck. The project was developed for the Buna Group on behalf of the Eswatini Public Service Pensions Fund (SPSPF) and received the 2019 SAPOA Award for Innovative Excellence – International Development, followed by the 2019 Africa Property Investment Award for Best Hotel Development.
