Sandton Skyline from Inanda, Johannesburg

A sweeping aerial view looks north along Rivonia Road from Inanda towards the Sandton Central business district, capturing the striking contrast between Johannesburg’s leafy northern suburbs and one of Africa’s most prominent commercial skylines. The image shows the extensive green spaces and sporting fields of St David’s Marist Inanda alongside established residential neighbourhoods, with Sandton’s concentration of high-rise commercial and residential buildings rising in the distance.

Prominent in the skyline is The Leonardo at 75 Maude Street, which was under construction when this photograph was taken and would be completed later in 2019. Designed by Co-Arc International Architects, the 55-storey, 234-metre mixed-use tower became South Africa’s tallest building and a defining landmark of Sandton. St David’s Marist Inanda, visible along Rivonia Road, was established on its current 21-acre site in 1941, providing a remarkable historical contrast to the rapidly evolving high-rise city beyond it.
