Construction of 1 Discovery Place, Discovery Headquarters, Sandton

The development began in 2014 as a major R3-billion project designed to consolidate Discovery’s Johannesburg operations into a single headquarters. Designed by Boogertman + Partners, the complex was conceived around interconnected office spaces, expansive light-filled atria and a central multi-level concourse intended to encourage collaboration, movement and interaction.

The completed development became 1 Discovery Place, Discovery’s Johannesburg headquarters. The approximately 147,000 m² development received a 5-Star Green Star SA Office Design rating and incorporates offices, restaurants, cafés, client facilities and extensive employee wellness amenities, including rooftop recreational facilities.

Today, 1 Discovery Place remains Discovery’s principal headquarters in Sandton. In 2026, Discovery announced the acquisition of the property, securing its long-term ownership of the headquarters.
