Vilanculos Waterfront and Traditional Fishing Boats on the Mozambique Coast

Vilanculos is located in Inhambane Province on the eastern coast of Mozambique and is recognised as an important gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago. The town’s location beside sheltered Indian Ocean waters has shaped its development around fishing, boating, tourism and other activities closely connected to the sea.

The shallow water dominates the foreground of the image, with the sandy seabed clearly visible beneath the surface. Fine patterns created by the movement of the water add texture and depth, while the reflections of the sky create a gradual transition between the shoreline and open ocean.
