The Capital on Park, 101 Katherine Street, Sandown, Sandton

The Capital on Park is a prominent mixed-use hotel and residential development at 101 Katherine Street in Sandton, Johannesburg. Completed in 2017, the development was created by The Capital Hotel Group and combines furnished apartments with a full-service hotel offering, including restaurants, conference facilities, a gym, spa, concierge services and a landscaped pool deck. The development comprises approximately 25,000 m², including 21,000 m² of rooms and apartments and 4,000 m² of hotel and conference facilities.

Designed by GLH Architects, The Capital on Park comprises contemporary mid- and high-rise residential and hospitality buildings arranged around landscaped communal spaces. The architecture uses extensive glazing, projecting balconies and a restrained palette of grey and neutral tones, creating a modern urban character while responding to its prominent position within Sandton. GLH’s involvement is also documented through the practice’s project history, with The Capital on Park forming part of its return to high-end residential and hospitality development in Sandton.

The aerial view highlights the development’s relationship with the surrounding Sandton neighbourhood, including Mushroom Farm Park and established residential areas. The combination of hotel accommodation, serviced apartments and lifestyle amenities reflects the increasing integration of business, hospitality and residential uses within Sandton’s rapidly evolving urban environment.
