Masingita Towers, Sandton

Masingita Towers is a prominent residential development in Sandton, Johannesburg, captured here from the air within the rapidly evolving urban landscape of one of South Africa’s most important commercial centres. Located on West Road South in Morningside, close to the Sandton Central business district, the development forms part of a dense and increasingly vertical urban environment where luxury residential buildings sit alongside corporate offices, hotels, retail centres, schools, sporting facilities and established suburban neighbourhoods. The aerial perspective highlights the contrast between Sandton’s high-rise commercial core in the distance and the lower-density residential areas that continue to surround it.

Masingita Towers occupies a strategically located site within the broader Sandton precinct, with convenient access to Sandton City, Nelson Mandela Square, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Gautrain Sandton precinct. The development is positioned within an area that has experienced substantial transformation over recent decades as Sandton has developed from a predominantly suburban district into a major financial and commercial centre.

Architect: AMA Architects, with the project designed under the direction of Adrian Maserow, Managing Director of AMA Architects. The architectural approach combines a contemporary high-rise residential form with a strong emphasis on verticality, extensive glazing, balconies and a sophisticated façade treatment. The two residential towers are visually distinct while being integrated into a common development containing shared amenities and services.

Completed: 2018. Construction of Masingita Towers was completed in July 2018, with the R250-million development delivered on time and within budget. At completion, the project had already achieved more than 50% occupancy, reflecting the demand for high-quality residential accommodation in and around Sandton.
