Jewel City Johannesburg – Urban Regeneration and Mixed-Use Precinct

This aerial photograph captures the Johannesburg CBD skyline, showcasing the dense urban landscape and some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Carlton Centre, ABSA Tower and the Jewel City precinct. The Carlton Centre remains one of Johannesburg’s defining skyscrapers, rising 223 metres with 50 levels and forming a major landmark within the historic commercial heart of the city.

In the foreground, Jewel City forms a distinctive contemporary element within the historic CBD. The regenerated mixed-use precinct has transformed a former industrial and trading area into a combination of residential, retail, commercial and public spaces, contributing to the ongoing regeneration of Johannesburg’s eastern inner city.
