This aerial photograph provides a wide view across Waterfall City in Midrand, Gauteng, showcasing several of the precinct’s most recognisable buildings and landmarks. In the foreground are the distinctive four towers of Ellipse Waterfall, Waterfall City’s landmark high-rise residential development. Designed by Dhk Architects, Ellipse comprises the Newton, Kepler, Cassini and Galileo towers and is positioned directly opposite the Mall of Africa. All four phases of the development have now been completed.

Immediately behind Ellipse is the extensive Mall of Africa, the major retail anchor of Waterfall City’s central business district. To the right is the distinctive PwC Tower, a 26-storey office tower recognised for its twisting form and prominent position within the Waterfall City skyline. The tower forms part of the commercial heart of the precinct alongside other major corporate developments.

The image also captures Nexus Waterfall, a 32,000 m² mixed-use precinct located across the road from Mall of Africa. Nexus incorporates three P-Grade office buildings, restaurants and the Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City, arranged around a landscaped central piazza. The Courtyard Hotel is a 10-storey, four-star hotel with guest rooms, suites, conference facilities, restaurants and a rooftop sky bar.

Together, these developments illustrate the scale of Waterfall City’s transformation into a major mixed-use urban centre, combining high-density residential development, retail, offices, hospitality, public spaces and extensive supporting road infrastructure. The wider Waterfall City CBD is centred around Mall of Africa and includes major commercial and residential developments designed around a more integrated, walkable urban environment.
