Black River Park Office Precinct, Observatory, Cape Town

Black River Park has approximately 75,000 m² of lettable office space and has developed into an important commercial node in Observatory. The precinct combines modern office buildings with refurbished warehouse structures and landscaped communal areas, while its location provides convenient access to the N2, M3 and M5 and nearby rail and public transport services.

A defining feature of Black River Park is its commitment to sustainable energy. The precinct installed a large-scale rooftop solar PV system, reaching approximately 1.2 MW, and became the site of one of Southern Africa’s largest commercial rooftop solar installations at the time. In 2014, Black River Park also became the first private commercial property to enter into a small-scale embedded generation agreement with the City of Cape Town, allowing surplus electricity to be fed into the municipal grid.
