A striking view of the ACSA Western Precinct, the headquarters development of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, Gauteng. The Western Precinct Phase 1A comprises approximately 33,000 m² of premium office space across 10 storeys, positioned above a five-level basement and podium. The development consists of three interconnected office wings arranged above a landscaped podium, with the new headquarters providing ACSA with a consolidated operational base within the airport precinct. The project was developed as part of ACSA’s broader Aerotropolis strategy, which seeks to use O.R. Tambo International Airport as a catalyst for economic development.
Designed by Paragon Architects, the building was delivered through the ACSA Western Precinct Consortium, with SOM, MMQSMACE, Heri Property Company and Tiber Construction involved in the development and delivery team. Construction took place between 2019 and 2021, with the project completed during 2021. The development achieved a 4-Star Green Star SA rating, incorporating sustainable building systems and energy-efficient design within a complex live-airport environment.
The image also records the building during its final construction phase, with tower cranes still visible above the roofline. Its location alongside the major airport access roads demonstrates the project’s role as both a corporate headquarters and a highly visible gateway development within the O.R. Tambo precinct.
