Aerial view of the ACSA Western Precinct, also known as Aviation Park, at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, Gauteng. The development comprises approximately 33,000 m² of office space arranged across three distinctive sculptural office buildings above a five-storey parking structure and landscaped podium. Building A accommodates the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) head office, while Buildings B and C provide additional commercial accommodation. The development forms part of ACSA’s broader strategy to expand the airport precinct and establish an Aerotropolis, using the airport as a catalyst for regional economic development.
Designed by Paragon Architects, the project was developed by the ACSA Western Precinct Consortium, with SOM, MMQSMACE, Heri Property Company and Tiber involved in its delivery. Construction commenced in 2019, with practical completion achieved in June 2021. The project received a 4-Star Green Star SA rating, incorporating energy-efficient systems, natural daylighting, rainwater harvesting, water-efficient fixtures and vegetated areas.
This aerial photograph also records the Western Precinct during its final construction phase, with tower cranes still visible across the site. The surrounding image clearly illustrates the complex interface between new commercial development and the airport’s active terminal, apron, aircraft stands and transport infrastructure.
