Wide aerial view of Rondebosch Golf Club in Cape Town, looking across the Southern Suburbs towards the Cape Flats and the Atlantic coastline. The photograph captures the golf course as a prominent green open space within a densely developed urban landscape, with major road infrastructure, residential neighbourhoods and commercial areas extending towards the distant coast.

Established in 1911, Rondebosch Golf Club is one of Cape Town’s historic golf clubs. Its parkland course is characterised by mature trees, gently undulating fairways and waterways associated with the Black River and Vygekraal River. The club describes the course as retaining much of its original character despite changes required by road development and river widening.

The course is situated off Klipfontein Road, with the M5 freeway immediately to the west and the N2 highwayseparating it from the neighbouring King David Mowbray Golf Club. The aerial perspective clearly illustrates the course’s strategic position within Cape Town’s transport network and its importance as a substantial green space surrounded by the dense residential fabric of Rondebosch, Mowbray and the southern suburbs.

The course is traditionally attributed to celebrated South African golf-course architect Bob Grimsdell, whose design remains influential in the present layout. Some golf-course references also identify subsequent alterations and redevelopment of individual sections over the club’s long history.
