This aerial photograph captures the Cummins Southern Africa Regional Headquarters, known as the Cummins Power Hub, within the Waterfall Logistics Precinct in Waterfall City, Midrand. The facility forms part of one of Gauteng’s largest integrated mixed-use developments, strategically positioned between Johannesburg and Pretoria and connected to the N1 highway via the Allandale interchange. Waterfall City combines corporate offices, logistics and industrial facilities, retail, residential development and extensive transport infrastructure.
The Cummins Power Hub was completed and officially opened in 2019, following a three-year development programme and a reported R350 million investment. The 15,355 m² facility consolidates Cummins Southern Africa’s regional headquarters, Master Rebuild Centre, Africa Learning Centre and Gauteng operations. Designed around the company’s Cummins Smart Office Concept, the complex combines corporate offices with highly specialised industrial and technical facilities. The project was developed by Zenprop, with Empowered Spaces Architects responsible for the architecture and Daniel Rebel Landscape Architects for the landscape design. The project subsequently received the 2019 SAPOA Innovative Excellence Award for Best Industrial Development.
The wider aerial view illustrates the rapid transformation of Waterfall City around the time the photograph was taken in January 2020. The distinctive PwC Tower is clearly visible in the middle distance, while the large white-roofed Mall of Africa anchors the developing commercial core. The newly completed Deloitte Africa Headquarters was also emerging as a major landmark in the precinct, with its 42,500 m² building completed in 2020. Together, these developments demonstrate Waterfall City’s emergence as a major corporate, logistics and mixed-use destination in Gauteng.
