The Carlton Centre is a 50 story skyscraper located in  Johannesburg CBD, South Africa designed Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. At 223 metres, it is the second tallest building in Africa after The Leonardo and the tallest office building. Anglo American Properties began construction in the late 1960s and  the building officially opened in 1973 at a total cost of over R90 million.
